Faith Formation at St. John of the Evangelist supports children, teens, and adults as they grow in their Catholic faith and prepare to receive the sacraments. This page is the starting point for anyone seeking First Communion, Confirmation, Adult Confirmation, or OCIA. Our parish provides Sacramental Preparation for children, youth, and adults who are seeking to receive the Sacraments of First Communion, Confirmation, or full initiation through OCIA. Each program has its own page with registration, schedules, and detailed information. Below you will find the pathways of preparation offered at St. John the Evangelist Parish.

First Communion (Children)

For children typically in grades 2–8 preparing for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. This two‑year journey helps children grow in prayer, understanding of the Mass, and love for Jesus in the Eucharist.

Youth Confirmation

For teens in grades 9–12 preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Formation includes catechesis, service, retreats, and active participation in parish life.

Adult Confirmation

For adults age 18 and older who were baptized Catholic but have not yet received Confirmation. Sessions provide formation in Scripture, prayer, and the teachings of the Church.

Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA)

For adults who are unbaptized, baptized in another Christian tradition, or baptized Catholics seeking to complete their Sacraments of Initiation. Includes OCIA adapted for children age 7 and older.
