Funeral Rites
Catholic funerals are a sacred moment of prayer, remembrance, and hope in the promise of eternal life. Through the Vigil, Funeral Mass, and Committal, the Church entrusts the deceased to God’s mercy and offers comfort to family and friends. At St. John of the Evangelist, we accompany grieving families with compassion and care as they prepare the funeral liturgies and make arrangements. If you have recently experienced a loss, please fill out the funeral form below so we may assist you with planning, scheduling, and pastoral support during this difficult time.

Funeral Guidelines
Preparing the liturgies
- A Catholic funeral may include the following:
- The Vigil
- Funeral Liturgy (usually with Mass)
- Graveside Committal
Please meet with parish clergy to prepare the liturgy.
2. Musician fee: $250
- Organist/Cantor: Carolos Peralta
- Harp/Cantor: Mair Rathburn
3. Words of Remembrance (Eulogy). A eulogy is most appropriate at the Vigil or at the reception. Before Mass begins, one person may offer brief words of remembrance. Requirements:
- Must be typed ahead of time
- No longer than 3-5 minutes (approximately one typed page)
4. Parish Hall. If you would like to rent the Parish Hall for hospitality or a reception, please contact the parish office.
5. Funeral or Memorial Liturgy Fees
- The Vigil - $400
- Funeral/Memorial Mass - $400
- Funeral/Memorial Mass (without Mass) - $400
- Committal Service
- Cemetery Priest or Deacon - $100
