Baptism

Baptism is the first sacrament of our Christian life, welcoming us into the family of God and marking the beginning of our journey of faith. Through water and the Holy Spirit, we are reborn as children of God and called to live as disciples of Christ. At St. John of the Evangelist, we joyfully accompany families preparing for Baptism, helping them understand the beauty of the sacrament and the commitment it represents. If you are seeking Baptism for your child, please begin by completing the Baptism Registration Form so our parish team can guide you through the next steps of preparation.

The origin and foundation of Christian Baptism is Jesus. Before starting his public ministry, Jesus submitted himself to the baptism given by John the Baptist.

In Baptism, we are asked to walk by the light of Christ and to trust in his wisdom. In Baptism, we become members of the Church, the Body of Christ. During the Rite of Baptism, we reject sin, renouncing those beliefs, values, and choices that are opposed to Christ and we profess our commitment to the Church’s beliefs, values, and vision, including the values which prioritize love for God, self, others, and all of creation.
